PRODUCT INFO
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis, garden heliotrope, all-heal, amantilla, baldrian, herba benedicta)
ACTIONS: Antispasmodic, Carminative, Emmenagogue, Nervine, Hypnotic, Hypotensive.
MEDICINAL USES: Valerian may be used for any situation in which tension and anxiety cause problems, either pyschological or physical. It is a valuable muscle relaxant, effective for muscle spasms, uterine cramps, and intestinal colic. Valerian helps promote normal sleep by as it is not powerful enough to suppress necessary REM phases.
PREPARATION & DOSAGE: To make infusion (drinking tea), pour 1 cup of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of dried herb (covered) and infuse for 10-15 minutes, 2 times a day. May cause drowsiness, best before bedtime.
SAFETY & CONSIDERATIONS: Alprazolam and sedative medications may interact with Valerian. Valerian may potentiate the effects of sedatives.
